Place the granulated sugar on a plate. Dip just the rims of the glasses in water, then dip in the sugar. In a cocktail shaker, combine the cognac, cointreau, lemon juice and ice. Shake for 10-20 seconds to chill thoroughly, then strain into two martini or coupe glasses. Garnish with an orange or lemon twist.

  • INGREDIENTS: 1/4 Granulated sugar 4 oz. (12 Cl) cognac or bourbon 2 oz. (6 Cl) orange liquor, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec 1 1/2 oz. (4.5 Cl) lemon juice Orange or lemon twist, for garnish
